The JuneBug Bio
Business Goals & Philosophy
I’ve been filming weddings since 2004, and I love what I do! This business has not only introduced me to life-long friends; it also gives me a creative outlet and the challenge to grow and achieve EXCELLENCE in my field. JBP’s goal: to set a new standard of quality and service for wedding videography under the $1000 price point in the St. Louis and Evansville metro areas. We don’t see that as a general goal for our business because I honestly believe that, in those terms, we’re there. I set that as a goal with each project, each client, and each component within that relationship: customer service, “day-of” filming and relations, production, and delivery. We want to leave every client with the thought that their relationship with us and the product they receive was more than they expected. Our philosophy is to capture your memories – not create them. We have a knack for finding a beautiful balance in relating to our clients enough to make them comfortable, but not stepping too far into the day. We respect all the other vendors of the day and do our best to create a team-mentality as we all strive to give you the best memories of your day that we can. We won’t hesitate to interject fun and ideas if the opportunity is there, but we don’t “reconstruct” moments or dictate your schedule in any way.
The JuneBug Product
Since creating the JuneBug brand as a kind of “baby sister” of our other company, Archway Media Services (fully loaded with bells and whistles), we’ve established a strong track record of delivering more than expected. Most of the “frills” of special effects and cinematic feel that we offer in the Archway product have been stripped away in order to drop the price point dramatically. Even still, the components that remain: our attention to detail, our skill in filming, some “light” editing and instrumental music underlay create a unique product – a kind of polished documentary style that has really surprised our clients and the coordinators who continue to recommend us.
Our History in the Biz
We quickly established a reputation as one of the elite wedding videography providers in the St. Louis area in our first couple of seasons in the business. We cherish the relationships we’ve built there and everything we learned from our peers in the field and other wedding vendors. Yes! We are still active in St. Louis even though we have moved our family to the Evansville area. So, here we are to establish our business in a new market and build relationships with clients and professionals in the Tri-State area. From Bi-State to Tri-State! From the Mississippi River to the Ohio River! Still beautiful midwest people and crazy, crazy weather.
Personal Stuff
I own and operate this company with my partner for LIFE, Brian. :) He has a degree in Christian Education and I have a degree in Secondary Education – English. We returned from our honeymoon in October of 2003 to find that Brian had lost his job to someone who would do it for less money (congratulations to us!), and his side business of technical consulting quickly moved to front-and-center. Through experiences with clientele who needed various technical and media-related services and through increased volunteer work he was able to do at our church, a love and talent for all things video and media was born! We began filming weddings together and running our business in the fall of 2004. We’ve filmed and produced more than 120 weddings! We’re a great team because he’s a techy and I’m all about creativity and people. We worked full-time in our home office together in this business for two years and loved it. I think that says more about who we are as a couple and as business partners than anything else could. Yes, we have regular jobs during the week, but we don’t want to give this up any time soon!
In fall of 2008, we moved our little family (we have a daughter, Ellie June, and a Yorkie, Chewbacca) to Evansville so Brian could realize his dream of doing media ministry full time – and provide some security and health benefits for his family. :) I have a grown-up son in St. Louis, so traveling back to film there gives me a great opportunity to love on him, too!
What you can expect with JBP
Our experience allows us to maintain control of our task amidst the chaos (yes – expect it) of the wedding day. Our confidence in our own skills and in each other means we will not add any of our own stress to your day. Our professionalism means we respect the whole of the wedding day - the people, the ceremony, other vendors. Our belief in the sanctity of marriage means that, even as we watch from behind a camera, we stand in agreement with all of your loved ones in praying for your marriage and your life together. We feel very passionately that the video we are creating for you can be a powerful tool to remind you of your love for each other and the commitment you've made to each other even during the inevitable difficult times ahead.
